Orkney Athletic and Running Club’s regular training sessions take place at the Pickaquoy Centre on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings – term time for primary athletes, and year round for secondary and senior athletes, with short breaks in October and December.
Payment for primary athlete training sessions is a per term fee by bank transfer.
Payment for secondary athlete training sessions is via monthly standing order in order to spread payments for weekly training fees evenly throughout the year.
Payment for senior sessions is on a pay-as-you go basis by bank transfer, or a package payment for an entire membership year (April-April).
JUNIOR ATHLETES ON TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS:
Primary Aged Athletes: 5.30pm – 6:30pm Tuesdays only
Secondary Aged Athletes: 6.30pm – 7.30pm Tuesdays and 6.00pm – 7.00pm Thursdays
PLEASE NOTE that whilst inside space for junior training sessions during the winter months is booked, whenever weather and training activities allow, athletes will train outdoors, so please ensure athletes come prepared for all weathers – think layers!
Athletes should always ensure they bring a water bottle with them to training sessions. Can we please ask that all items of clothing, bags, shoes, water bottles etc are named! Thank you.
Not all groups (sprints, middle distance, high jump, long jump, shot put & javelin) run on both training evenings depending on coach availability.
SENIOR ENDURANCE ATHLETES ON WEDNESDAYS:
All Athletes: 6.00pm – 7.00pm
Meet at the back doors to the Picky track at 6pm. This session is led by our Coach in Running Fitness and is primarily aimed at road, trail or long distance track athletes, and will usually involve running between 5-10k in some format or pattern.
Some track & field sessions do also take place on Wednesdays, these are usually invitation-only for groups of secondary and senior athletes training in particular disciplines.
