It is of the utmost importance to OARC that everyone involved in the club (whether that be as a member / athlete; volunteer / official / coach) is able to enjoy their time with the club in a safe and positive way. This page is designed to give you all the useful information, contacts and resources relating to protecting the well-being and human rights of children and vulnerable adults involved in the sport from abuse, harm and neglect as well as promoting the welfare of all OARC members / athletes, coaches and volunteers.
Safeguarding concerns can range from seemingly minor issues (e.g., breaking of small rules or minor breaches of codes of conduct), through to more serious, persistent, or unlawful behaviours (e.g., allegations or concerns about abuse, sexual or physical assault, or repeated or serious breaches of codes of conduct). To ensure an appropriate response to a safeguarding concern that reflects both harm and risk, UKA in conjunction with SA have agreed these Safeguarding Regulations.
The current Welfare Officer contact at OARC is Chris Webb. Chris can be contacted on pvgadmin@orkneyarc.org.uk. The Welfare team can be contacted at welfare@orkneyarc.org.uk.

scottishathletics‘ have their own Welfare Team, who provide support to the Club as needed. If you are not comfortable speaking to the OARC contacts you can contact the scottishathletics‘ team via the email addresses and phone numbers on this page: https://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/about/people/staff/#coaching-and-welfare
Safeguarding concerns can be reported to UK Athletics directly using this form: https://www.uka.org.uk/submit-a-concern/ If you have an immediate and serious concern about the safety of a child, contact the police on either 101 or 999.
The following files are the current in-force policies of scottishathletics, which are adopted in full by OARC as an affiliated club. The Codes of Conduct set out national standards of conduct for all clubs, coaches, officials, volunteers, and athletes in the sport. Every club, member and anyone undertaking a relevant role must agree to abide by the codes of conduct either when they join a club as part of the club application process, or when they renew their club membership, or licence.
